How far would ˆ40,000 go in Croatia in buying, kitting out and setting up? Is there much by the coast?

Hi Thomas,
It depends on what kind of property you want. Along the coast, as you'd know, the prices are not so friendly as they once were. For Hiberno, the Croatian Property Section do have some apartments for on or around ˆ60,000, all on the coast and most with clear sea views.
For houses, with 10 minutes of the coast we do have a range of properties on our books for ˆ20,000 and up, some have all services in them but need modernisation, depending on what you want in them it could cost between ˆ5,000 and ˆ15,000 to bring them to your required standard.
Obviously another 10 minutes back from the coast and you have a larger range of properties on and around this price. Croatia gets cheaper the further back you go.
If you have any further questions that aren't answered here or on the site feel free to drop one of our agents a line on: property@hiberno-knin.com
Thanks again for the enquiry, Alan

What are the taxes involved in buying in the area around Drnis and is it worthwhile?

Dear Bobs,
Thank you for your pm and in an open answer, if you buy through a company in the area around Drnis (Siveric in your case) it is 0%. However as a private individual you are liable to pay the standard 5%.
Property prices have risen by 15% from 2004-5 in the area and while a slowdown is expected, it should still be a cumulative 25% in the 2004-6 period.

Is there a foreign community in Siveric? Or is it a case of being in amongst the locals? Both ways are good for us!

Advanburn, myself and my partner bought just outside of Drnis, Miljevci, it's a small village but as we're working with growing herbs and such it's great, if you're in the area you can always call in for a cup of tea, there are 2 other foreigner living nearby and we find the locals nice and friendly. Advanburn, the list of properties sent to you were too large for your mailbox and we have sent them by post to you as well. The house you were interested in will be open for inspection when you visit in July.

Advan, did you get your email back up? Will you go for the farmhouse?
